PDP 2025 National Convention legitimacy confirmed by Oyo High Court, affirming Turaki as National Chairman and validating party elections
An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has officially upheld the legitimacy of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Justice Ladiran Akintola delivered the judgment on Friday, validating both the convention held on November 15, 2025, and the elections conducted during the event.

The court dismissed objections challenging the convention, ruling that no sufficient evidence demonstrated a breach of party procedures or internal regulations.
The judgment favoured claimant Folahan Malomo Adelabi, granting all 13 reliefs sought through his counsel, Musibau Adetunmbi (SAN).
Justice Akintola affirmed that the convention complied with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), and other relevant electoral laws.
The ruling confirms the emergence of the National Working Committee led by Kabiru Turaki as the substantive National Chairman, legitimising the PDP’s new leadership structure.
Motions seeking to stay proceedings or suspend the ruling, filed by Sunday Ibrahim (SAN) on behalf of Austin Nwachukwu and two others, were dismissed.
An earlier application for joinder by the same parties was also rejected for lacking merit.

The decision effectively ends disputes surrounding the convention and solidifies Turaki’s position as PDP’s national chairman.
