The directive, issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, exempts only personnel on essential and election duties.
Adeh confirmed that the command has deployed officers across the FCT to guarantee a hitch-free electoral exercise.
The mobilisation benefits from a coordinated exchange of operational and human resources with sister security agencies.
“Agencies involved in the deployment include the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Air Force, Nigeria Navy, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, among others,” Adeh stated.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, has urged all deployed officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism.
He emphasised that adequate security coverage at polling units and collation centres is critical to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful process.
Dantawaye advised officers to remain vigilant, impartial, and courteous while respecting citizens’ rights.
He also called on residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and comply with operational guidelines.
“Residents are encouraged to come out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully without fear, as comprehensive security measures have been put in place,” Dantawaye said.
