Presidency says former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai is creating political tension and diverting attention from corruption allegations in the state
The Presidency of Nigeria has accused former Nasir El-Rufai of deliberately creating tension in the country while diverting attention from corruption allegations in Kaduna State.

Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, stated on his verified X handle that El-Rufai is trying to damage the federal government through misinformation and portray himself as a victim.
Ajayi highlighted two main intentions behind El-Rufai’s recent actions:
1. Create political tension,generating fear and unrest nationwide.
2. Divert attention from domestic corruption issues,particularly his legal and financial problems in Kaduna State.

The statement follows El-Rufai’s national television interview criticizing the APC-led federal government and the recent attempt by the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest him at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which sparked nationwide debate.
