ADC Condemns Illegal Southwest Meeting in Ibadan

ADC warns members to ignore an illegal Southwest meeting in Ibadan, calling it unauthorised and destabilising for the party

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned a planned stakeholders’ meeting in the South West, describing the event as illegal and a threat to party stability.

The disclaimer, signed by Rahaman Owokoniran, National Vice Chairman of ADC South West Zone, claimed that unidentified individuals, acting in concert with a prominent traditional ruler, had scheduled the inauguration of South West executives at Kankanfo Inn, Off Ring Road, Ibadan, for Tuesday, 10 February 2026, without authorisation from the national leadership.

Owokoniran said the clandestine inauguration was intended to destabilise the party in the South West zone and was in complete disregard of the authority of ADC’s national leadership.

He stressed that the South West caucus had not convened any stakeholders’ meeting for this purpose.

“These people are spent politicians and are not known to ADC at the national, zonal, or state level,” Owokoniran added, urging party members across the South West states to remain calm and ignore the unauthorised event.

The statement warned that any attempt to bypass established procedures could undermine the party’s cohesion and credibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It reaffirmed the party’s commitment to lawful and transparent political processes while calling for vigilance among its members.
