Atiku Urges Unity Among Opposition Supporters

Atiku Abubakar urges supporters to avoid attacking Peter Obi or himself, stressing opposition unity to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has warned supporters against internal attacks on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and himself, stressing that such divisions undermine opposition cohesion and Nigeria’s democratic development.

In a post on his X handle, Atiku said those who insult either Obi or himself “do not have the best interests of the leaders, the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the country at heart.”

Atiku argued that internal discord serves the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which, he claimed, benefits from opposition infighting.

“The only persons who benefit from such a civil war are the APC urban bandits who want to maintain the satanic status quo,” he added.

The former vice president urged opposition figures and their supporters to prioritise solidarity, noting, “We are better together,” in a renewed call for unity ahead of future political contests.
