Odigie-Oyegun praises ADC-Obidient Movement collaboration, saying the alliance could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027 elections
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress and senior leader of the African Democratic Congress, has expressed confidence that the growing collaboration between the ADC and the Obidient Movement could dislodge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Odigie-Oyegun made the remarks during a formal reception in Benin City for members of the Obidient Movement who recently defected en masse to the ADC, following former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s alignment with the party.
Addressing the gathering, Odigie-Oyegun said the decision by the Obidient Movement reflects increasing commitment among Nigerians, particularly young people, to pursue political change and national renewal.
“The calibre and dedication of new members joining our party strengthens my belief that a new Nigeria is within reach,” he said.
He recalled recent developments, noting the entry of media personality Dele Momodu into the party and the subsequent mass defection of committed youths, adding that it signals a readiness among young Nigerians to engage in meaningful political action.
Odigie-Oyegun described the mass defection as a strategic choice by the Obidient Movement to participate directly in efforts toward political and social transformation.
“You have chosen to take up this struggle by joining the ADC, and I am pleased. From the inception of this coalition, I have been convinced that we are on the right path,” he said.

He argued that dissatisfaction with governance at both national and Edo State levels should motivate citizens to unite for collective political action, stressing, “Our mission is clear: we have a country to save. Through the ADC, we can make a new Nigeria a reality.”
