PDP Appeal Panels Primaries formed as party sets up committees to review complaints from presidential, governorship and legislative primaries
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted appeal panels to address petitions and complaints arising from its presidential, governorship, state and National Assembly primaries.

The party said the panels were established to strengthen transparency, fairness and internal democracy within its candidate selection process ahead of upcoming elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the PDP explained that the panels would review grievances submitted by aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders.
According to him, the panels are mandated to hear appeals from contestants dissatisfied with the outcomes of the party’s primaries and make recommendations in line with the PDP Constitution, electoral guidelines and relevant laws.
Mohammed said the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to ensuring credible and inclusive candidate selection processes as preparations intensify for future elections.
He disclosed that the party’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, will chair the governorship and presidential appeals panel, while Samuel Anyanwu is among its members.
He added that a separate nine-member panel will handle appeals related to state and National Assembly primaries, with Suleiman Afolagbe serving as chairman.
The states and National Assembly appeals panel is scheduled to sit on June 8 and June 9 at the party’s National Working Committee hall in Abuja.
Mohammed further stated that the 24-member governorship and presidential appeals panel will hold its sitting on June 10 at the party’s national secretariat.

The PDP maintained that the establishment of the panels demonstrates its resolve to manage internal disagreements through structured and constitutional mechanisms, ensuring party cohesion ahead of the general elections.
