Adeleke APC defection rumours dismissed by Omisore, who insists Osun Governor must join party from grassroots, not through elite connections in Ogun or Abuja
Former Osun State Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has dismissed Adeleke APC defection rumours, saying Governor Ademola Adeleke cannot join the All Progressives Congress (APC) through elite connections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, Omisore stated that political entry must be local, not based on personal alliances outside the state.
“Adeleke is only scared of losing the second term bid, which is why he is seeking to contest under the platform of the APC,” Omisore said.
He clarified that while Adeleke has a constitutional right to switch parties, he cannot bypass party structures. “You cannot be meeting Governor Dapo Abiodun to anchor you into our party,” he added.
According to Omisore, Adeleke APC defection rumours are politically motivated and fail to acknowledge the localised nature of Nigerian politics.
“Politics is very local, and you have to know the tenets and local structure of a party that you are joining,” he warned.

Omisore affirmed that APC remains united in Osun and that any legitimate defection must begin at the grassroots level.
