ADC appoints Oyegun, Utomi, Lukman to lead manifesto committee

ADC manifesto committee, led by Oyegun, Utomi, and Lukman, will develop policy direction and manifesto for 2027 elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Professor Pat Utomi, and former APC National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman to lead the development of the party’s policy document and manifesto ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The trio will head a 50-member Policy and Manifesto Committee approved by the party’s National Working Committee, led by Senator David Mark.

The committee is scheduled for inauguration on Monday.

According to the ADC, the committee is tasked with articulating a clear policy direction and producing a manifesto addressing national priorities, including governance, economic management, social development, security, and democratic reform.

In a statement released yesterday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed the leadership of the committee, with Odigie-Oyegun serving as Chairman, Utomi as Deputy Chairman, and Lukman as Secretary.

Other members include former Bauchi State APC governorship candidate Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd), Professor Chidi Odinkalu, Dr Usman Bugaje, Professor Anthony Kila, Pastor Funke Awowolo, Madam Jumoke Olawuyi, and Professor Sam Amadi.

The ADC highlighted that members were drawn from diverse professional and political backgrounds, including former public office holders, academics, technocrats, policy experts, and civil society leaders.

Bolaji Abdullahi explained that the delay in constituting the committee reflected internal political considerations.

“You think it’s just about putting some names together, but people begin to look at how many Christians, how many Muslims, how many people from different regions,” he said, noting that the process mirrored the political realities involved.
