Accord Party in Osun cautions residents against NIN data harvesting by alleged APC agents, urging vigilance and reporting to authorities
The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has urged residents to remain vigilant against attempts to obtain their personal information, especially National Identification Numbers (NIN), by individuals reportedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The warning was issued on Monday by the state chairman, Pastor Victor Akande.
In a statement made available to journalists, Akande described the alleged actions as deceptive tactics aimed at harvesting personal data from unsuspecting members of the public.
He stressed that legitimate political engagement or party activities do not require citizens to provide sensitive personal data such as their NIN to party representatives.
“No genuine political party programme, engagement, or membership exercise requires the surrender of personal data to party agents. Such requests should be treated as a red flag,” Akande said, urging residents to report any suspicious incidents to security agencies and regulatory institutions.
The Accord chairman alleged that recent efforts to collect personal information formed part of a broader strategy by the APC to regain political relevance in Osun State.
He cited past governance disputes, claiming residents had previously faced economic hardship linked to political actions.
“There is nothing the APC has not thrown at the good people of Osun State to weaken their will and undermine their support,” Akande stated.
Accord Party also reaffirmed its commitment to issue-based politics, respect for citizens’ rights, and the protection of personal data.
