PGF hails Tinubu’s leadership as APC gains support

PGF praises President Tinubu’s leadership as APC gains popularity, citing reforms, student loans, and health initiatives boosting public confidence

The Progressives Governors Forum has attributed the All Progressives Congress’s growing appeal among politicians and governors to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style and accomplishments, describing claims to the contrary as unfounded.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, PGF chairman, made the remarks during a briefing to journalists following a meeting of progressive governors in Abuja.

He said the party’s increasing influence reflects public satisfaction with its performance rather than efforts to suppress opposition.

“Our party, as you know, is the most beautiful bride today in the country. You can see, I have almost lost count of the number of governors we now have in our great party. It shows that the president is doing well. It shows that APC is doing well,” Mr Uzodimma said.

“It shows that our passion to create prosperity in Nigeria is being bought into by well-meaning Nigerians and, particularly, the political class. We are a happy party. We are struggling to ensure that our people are served.”

He highlighted the recent addition of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the APC, bringing the total number of governors in the party to more than 28.

Mr Uzodimma described these figures as evidence of growing confidence in the APC and the leadership of Mr Tinubu.

“The APC has emerged at the centre stage of national politics because of its delivery of key governance promises,” he said, pointing to the administration’s reform policies as having positive impacts across sectors.

Among the initiatives cited were the student loan scheme, ensuring that no Nigerian is denied education due to lack of funds, and the expanded health insurance scheme, designed to improve access to healthcare.

Mr Uzodimma also highlighted improvements in the economy, increased government revenue, and rising oil and gas production as indicators of national recovery.
