Amadi Warns Against Underestimating Tinubu in Fierce Politics

Sam Amadi warns political actors that President Tinubu will fight hard if challenged, saying only Peter Obi can withstand the pressure

Former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission Sam Amadi has cautioned political actors against underestimating President Bola Tinubu, warning that the president is willing to engage opponents in fierce political battles if they confront him improperly.

Amadi issued the warning on Wednesday in a message posted on X.

Amadi said those urging younger politicians to take on the president should carefully consider the consequences, noting that Tinubu, despite controversies around him, remains a relentless political operator.

According to him, the president “will fight dirty once you are dirty and fighting him,” a remark that has stirred debate online.

The former regulator argued that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, is the only figure capable of surviving what he described as a “coming hurricane”, insisting that Obi’s perceived clean public image provides him with resilience many others lack.

His comment comes at a time the political climate is tense, following reports that former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami has spent a second night in EFCC custody over allegations including terrorism financing and money laundering.
