Bode George Rejects PDP Convention Suspension

Bode George dismisses calls to suspend PDP’s national convention, insisting the party remains united and ready for the November 2025 exercise.

Bode George has rejected calls to suspend the Peoples Democratic Party’s national convention, insisting the exercise scheduled for 15 and 16 November 2025 in Ibadan must go ahead as planned.

Speaking to ARISE News, the PDP chieftain dismissed former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s suggestion that the party establish a caretaker committee, describing the proposal as unnecessary and unconstitutional.

George insisted that the party remained united despite ongoing internal disagreements. “You know, in this country, it amazes me the way people roll around purely for their selfish ends,” he said. “The main party is still solidly intact. We are waiting for the ruling of the court in Ibadan.”

He criticised what he described as reckless behaviour within the party, saying such conduct disrespects the legacy of PDP’s founding fathers.

George specifically pointed to the suspended National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for allegedly releasing an advertisement claiming the convention had been postponed.

“How many of them are together? Only three out of 19 members of the National Working Committee support the Anyanwu group,” George said, adding that such actions go beyond authority.

The PDP chieftain reaffirmed that the Supreme Court has urged the party to resolve internal matters independently, stressing that the leadership structure remains intact and ready to proceed with the Ibadan convention.
