PDP accuses APC of dictatorship, warning Nigeria risks one-party rule as it condemns militarisation and manipulation in recent bye-elections
PDP accuses APC of dictatorship in a strongly worded statement following its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, warning that Nigeria risks sliding into a totalitarian one-party state.

National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, who issued the communiqué on behalf of the party, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) poses a “clear and present danger” to democracy and the corporate existence of the country.
The opposition party condemned what it described as the APC’s tactics of “state capture through intimidation, manipulation, inducement, coercion and violence against Nigerians,” citing the recent bye-elections as evidence.
According to the PDP, the militarisation of polls in Kaduna, Taraba, and Zamfara undermined the democratic process.
The NEC particularly criticised the deployment of what it termed excessive security agencies in Kaura Namoda South constituency of Zamfara, where only five polling units were involved in a run-off election.
“We remain committed to democracy and the defense of the interest and wellbeing of all citizens as we work hard to further reposition our party to regain power in 2027,” the statement added.
