The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party issued a condolence message on Tuesday, expressing sadness at the passing of Muhammadu Buhari, who died last Sunday in London after a brief illness.

His remains will be buried today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, according to Islamic rites.

In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Umar Kyari, the Jigawa PDP extended condolences to Buhari’s family, friends, and the entire nation, praising the former president’s efforts toward Nigeria’s democratic growth despite political differences.

“The PDP family in Jigawa State is mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” Kyari said.

“We may have had our differences, but we recognise his efforts in shaping the nation’s trajectory.”

Kyari said Buhari’s record in national service would be remembered for generations. He highlighted the late president’s resilience and dedication to Nigeria’s progress across multiple sectors.

“His commitment to democracy and national development is a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come,” he stated.

The party described the moment as a time for reflection and unity, calling on Nigerians to rally behind the present administration in the spirit of national solidarity.

Kyari added, “This is a time for Nigerians to come together and support one another.”
