Timi Frank Warns INEC Against 2027 Election Manipulation

Timi Frank warns INEC against 2027 election manipulation and calls for an investigation into alleged AI-generated entries in the voter register

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that Nigerians will not tolerate any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general election.

Frank made the warning in a statement issued in Abuja, expressing concern over allegations that artificial intelligence-generated names and photographs had appeared in the national voter register.

He called on the electoral commission to urgently investigate the claims, verify questionable entries and provide Nigerians with a transparent explanation of how the register was compiled.

The former APC spokesperson warned that any attempt to rig the 2027 election could trigger serious consequences, insisting that citizens would resist electoral manipulation.

“If the 2027 election is rigged, Nigerians will have no choice but to take their destiny into their own hands. What is happening in France, Germany and other European countries will be child’s play compared with what will happen in Nigeria,” Frank said.

His comments came amid concerns raised by opposition parties and members of the public following INEC’s release of the preliminary national voter register.

Some Nigerians reportedly questioned the authenticity of certain names and photographs in the register, alleging that some images appeared to have been generated using artificial intelligence.

The presidential candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, had also expressed concerns over the voter register.

However, INEC clarified that the register was still undergoing review and that identified errors would be corrected.

Frank maintained that the commission must address the concerns openly to prevent doubts about the credibility of the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general election.

He urged INEC to take the allegations seriously and ensure that the final voter register accurately reflects eligible voters.

The controversy has added to calls for greater transparency in the preparation of the voter register as political parties and stakeholders begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
