Yusuf Reconciles Barau Jibrin, Kabir After Kano APC Rift

Abba Yusuf has reconciled Barau Jibrin and Abubakar Kabir after political differences between the APC leaders in Kano

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has intervened in the political differences between Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir, in an effort to restore unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

The reconciliation meeting was held in Abuja on Wednesday and lasted about two hours, with the two APC leaders discussing their differences and the need to work together in the interest of the party.

The disagreement was reportedly linked to competition over political influence and control of party structures in Kano, with the rivalry also leading to exchanges among supporters of the two camps.

Governor Yusuf appealed to Jibrin and Kabir, as well as their supporters, to put the dispute behind them and concentrate on strengthening the APC.

He stressed that cooperation among party leaders was necessary for the party to remain stable and pursue its political objectives at different levels.

The governor also called for unity behind President Bola Tinubu, the Kano State Government and other APC candidates, while acknowledging that disagreements were part of political activities.

However, Yusuf warned that such differences should not be allowed to undermine the party’s stability or create unnecessary tension among its members.

He particularly cautioned supporters of both political camps against personal attacks and provocative remarks capable of reopening the dispute.

“Henceforth, I do not expect any of your supporters to come out and abuse one another. We must put a stop to these unnecessary distractions,” Yusuf said.

The governor’s intervention comes amid efforts to strengthen cooperation among prominent APC figures in Kano ahead of the 2027 political cycle.

Jibrin and Kabir subsequently appealed to their respective supporters to avoid actions that could deepen divisions within the party.

The two lawmakers also pledged to work towards the growth and success of the APC at all levels.

The reconciliation is expected to ease tensions between the two political camps and encourage greater cooperation among APC stakeholders in Kano.

For the governor, the emphasis remains on preventing internal disagreements from becoming a distraction and ensuring that party leaders and their supporters work together towards shared political objectives.
