APC Osun 2026 victory hopes rise as National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda backs the party’s candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship poll
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the party will win the August 15 Osun State governorship election, declaring that nothing would prevent the APC from taking control of the state government.

Speaking during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Nentawe Yilwatda said the party had the political structure, national presence and grassroots network required to secure victory at the polls.
“Nothing will stop us from taking over the Government House this August,” Yilwatda said.
The APC chairman described the Osun election as a significant contest for the party, particularly as it prepares for the wider political battle ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), had the capacity to deliver victory for the APC.
Yilwatda said the party would mobilise its governors, members of the National Assembly, local government chairmen and other stakeholders to support the campaign and strengthen its presence across the state.
The APC leader maintained that the ruling party remained Nigeria’s strongest political organisation, adding that its extensive network would play a major role in connecting with voters before election day.
The campaign council inauguration marks a new phase in the APC’s efforts to regain control of Osun State, where political competition has remained intense between the major parties.
The party is expected to focus on grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement and presenting its candidate’s programme as campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15 poll.

The Osun governorship election is set to be closely watched nationally, with the outcome likely to influence political calculations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
