The nomination was announced on Monday in a statement signed by the party’s Sokoto State Publicity Secretary, Lamir Aminu, who said Ambarura would run alongside the ADC’s governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya.

According to Aminu, the decision followed extensive consultations within the party and was made in line with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

He said the nomination reflected the party’s commitment to presenting a credible leadership team capable of delivering effective governance in Sokoto State.

“The decision reflects the party’s commitment to presenting a competent, credible and people-oriented leadership team capable of delivering good governance in Sokoto State,” the statement said.

The ADC described Ambarura as an experienced administrator whose public service career spans both the civil service and elective offices.

Before joining partisan politics, Ambarura rose through the ranks of the Sokoto State Civil Service to become a Permanent Secretary. He later served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.

In 2019, he was elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader until 2023 before winning election to the House of Representatives to represent Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency.
