APC Reconciles Ondo Leaders, Backs Aiyedatiwa and Tinubu

Ondo APC leaders settle internal disputes and rally behind Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Bola Tinubu as the party prepares for 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has moved to repair internal divisions, with party leaders rallying behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the state’s political leader and reaffirming support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The decision was reached during a meeting of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and other party stakeholders in Akure on Wednesday, marking one of the party’s major efforts to rebuild unity after recent internal disagreements.

At the meeting, APC leaders unanimously recognised Aiyedatiwa as the leader of the party in Ondo State and pledged to work together ahead of the next election cycle.

Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Chief Pius Akinyelure, said disagreements within political parties were expected after primary elections but warned that such differences should not weaken the APC’s structure.

“We must resolve our differences through dialogue, mutual respect, sacrifice and selflessness,” Akinyelure said.

He urged party members to prioritise the collective interest of the APC and strengthen cooperation across the state.

Former Senator Ajayi Boroffice said the meeting resolved that all party members should accept Aiyedatiwa’s leadership role and work towards greater coordination within the party.

He added that Ondo APC would intensify mobilisation efforts for Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The APC South-West Vice Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, said more than 30 party leaders attended the meeting and expressed commitment to the president’s re-election project.

The stakeholders also agreed that APC support groups operating in Ondo State should function under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership to improve coordination and avoid internal fragmentation.

The reconciliation effort comes after a period of political tension within the state chapter following disagreements linked to party activities and the recent primary process.

By presenting a united front, the APC hopes to strengthen its grassroots organisation and maintain its influence in Ondo ahead of future elections.

The move also reflects a wider effort by major political parties across Nigeria to resolve internal disputes and consolidate support as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
