NDP Imo chairman Kyrian Amadi says the party is ready to dominate the 2027 elections with strong grassroots mobilisation and reforms
The National Democratic Party (NDP) in Imo State on 2 July 2026 expressed strong confidence in its growing political influence, with state chairman Kyrian Amadi declaring that the party is positioning itself as a major contender ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

Amadi made the remarks shortly after his appointment by the party’s national leadership, describing the development as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the NDP’s structure across the country ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to him, the party has begun consolidating its presence not only in Imo State but also across all states of the federation, with renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation and internal organisation.
“We are firm when it comes to good and purposeful governance,” Amadi said, describing the NDP as a party built on democratic values, equity and social justice.
He added that the party is gaining increasing acceptance among citizens who are seeking alternative political platforms ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that the leadership remains committed to expanding its reach across all 27 local government areas and 305 wards in Imo State.
Amadi described the party’s growing acceptance as “passionately volcanic,” a phrase he used to illustrate what he called rising enthusiasm among supporters and new members joining the party structure.
He also urged undecided voters in Imo State to register with the NDP, insisting that the party represents a credible opposition voice focused on governance, infrastructure development, human capacity building, inclusiveness and accountability.
The chairman further revealed that the party is taking advantage of opportunities provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adjust and substitute candidates for legislative positions, including State Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats.
Political analysts note that the emergence of smaller parties like the NDP as vocal participants in pre-election discourse reflects Nigeria’s increasingly competitive political landscape ahead of 2027.
