Ebonyi Governance Nwifuru Criticism intensifies as analyst Pascal Oluchukwu challenges Governor Francis Nwifuru’s performance ahead of 2027 elections
Public affairs analyst Pascal Oluchukwu has sparked a fresh political debate in Ebonyi State after strongly criticising the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru, amid growing discussions over his eligibility for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

Oluchukwu’s remarks, issued in a statement on Thursday, June 25, 2026, came in response to claims by Ebonyi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Nwali, who had earlier argued that Governor Nwifuru’s performance justifies his re-election bid.
The analyst, however, dismissed the assertions, insisting that the governor’s administration has not delivered enough visible developmental impact to warrant renewed public support.
According to Oluchukwu, many of the state’s major projects remain either incomplete or poorly executed, despite what he described as increased allocations from the federation account over the past three years.
He pointed to key infrastructure projects such as the Vanco flyover and tunnel in Abakaliki, which he alleged have deteriorated significantly, describing the site in stark terms.
“From the Vanco flyover and tunnel that has since turned into a large swimming pool in this rainy season… the story is the same,” Oluchukwu said, adding that several other projects across the state remain uncompleted.
He further criticised the state’s ICT University project in Oferekpe Agbaja and multiple civil servant housing schemes, claiming that they remain largely unfinished and scattered across different stages of development.
Oluchukwu also accused the administration of failing to translate increased federal allocations into tangible development outcomes, describing the situation as disappointing and unacceptable.
In a particularly strong remark, he stated that visible APC campaign materials have become, in his view, the only clear sign of governance activity across the state.
“APC’s 4+4=8 signpost projects have become the only visible sign that there’s a government in Ebonyi State,” he added.
The comments have further intensified political discourse in Ebonyi, with supporters of the administration expected to respond as the 2027 election cycle draws closer.
Governor Nwifuru’s camp has consistently maintained that the administration is committed to infrastructure development and institutional reforms, although opposition voices continue to question the pace and visibility of projects.
