Adelabu Denies Plan to Dump APC for SDP Ahead of 2027

Adelabu denies defection to SDP, dismissing rumours of plans to dump APC ahead of the 2027 general elections

Former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has denied reports suggesting he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The denial was contained in a statement issued on his behalf by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, and made available in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The clarification followed online reports claiming that Adelabu had concluded arrangements to defect from the APC to the SDP.

The rumours, which circulated on Tuesday, suggested that the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria was preparing to join the opposition party.

Adelabu described the claims as false, baseless, and deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension.

He insisted that he remains a committed member of the APC and stressed that no amount of misinformation would change his political allegiance.

According to the statement, attempts to associate him with a defection plan were described as disrespectful and politically motivated.

Adelabu further argued that the reports were intended to generate media attention and create an artificial political narrative where none existed.
