Bauchi PDP candidate Adamu Usman Ahmed vows to stop Bala Mohammed’s successor plan and promises job creation if elected governor
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, on Thursday, June 12, 2026, vowed to block Governor Bala Mohammed’s alleged successor plan, expressing confidence that the opposition would win the next governorship election.

Ahmed said Bauchi voters have a history of making independent political decisions and would reject any attempt to impose a preferred successor.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the PDP candidate said previous political trends in the state suggest that governors have struggled to successfully transfer power to chosen successors.
“The people of Bauchi are always wise. Looking at the history of the state, no governor has successfully installed a successor,” Ahmed said.
He argued that the current political environment provides a stronger opportunity for opposition parties due to increased competition among political groups.
“The dynamics of politics have changed. Unlike the past when elections were mainly between two parties, this time there are about seven or eight parties contesting. Having many candidates in the race gives us an advantage,” he said.
The statement comes amid political developments involving Governor Bala Mohammed, who recently left the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following internal disagreements within the party.
Ahmed maintained that the situation has created a new political landscape ahead of the election, with voters expected to decide based on performance and credibility.
The PDP candidate also outlined job creation as the major focus of his campaign, promising to prioritise employment opportunities for young people if elected.
“Our major target will be job creation,” Ahmed said, adding that his administration would focus on improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across Bauchi State.

He said addressing unemployment would be central to his plans for development and governance.
