Bauchi Lawmaker Aliyu Misau Defects From PDP to APM

Aliyu Misau defection from PDP confirmed as Bauchi lawmaker joins APM, citing unresolved internal crises and party factionalism

The lawmaker representing Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, Aliyu Misau, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in a move announced during plenary at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, formally disclosed Aliyu Misau’s defection after reading the lawmaker’s letter on the floor of the chamber.

In the correspondence, Aliyu Misau cited unresolved internal crises and persistent factional divisions within the PDP as the primary reason for his decision to leave the party.

The development marks a significant political realignment in Bauchi State and adds to a growing wave of defections affecting the opposition party in recent weeks.

Aliyu Misau switched party from PDP comes just days after several other federal lawmakers from Bauchi State also abandoned the PDP for the APM, highlighting what appears to be deepening instability within the party’s state structure.

Political observers say the latest exit reflects ongoing tensions and dissatisfaction among party members, particularly over leadership disputes and internal cohesion.

This is the second wave of defections in June alone involving Bauchi lawmakers moving from the PDP to the APM, following the earlier departure of four House of Representatives members on June 4.
