Wike Criticises ADC and NDC Democracy as FCT Minister questions opposition parties’ internal processes and leadership credibility in Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued fresh criticism of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, questioning their internal democratic practices and suitability as credible political alternatives in Nigeria.

Wike Criticises ADC and NDC Democracy remarks were made during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, where he addressed concerns surrounding party organisation, electoral integrity and opposition politics.
Nyesom Wike alleged that both political parties lacked the internal cohesion and transparency required to present themselves as viable leaders of national governance.
He specifically pointed to the ADC’s presidential primary process, claiming it failed to secure broad acceptance among aspirants who participated in the contest.
A secondary highlight of his remarks was his broader argument that political credibility must begin with internal party discipline before any party can seek national leadership.
Wike Criticises ADC and NDC Democracy as he argued that parties which cannot manage their own internal elections should not be trusted with the responsibility of governing a complex nation like Nigeria.
“Who is coming to Nigerians to tell them lies that we are the Messiah? Those are all liars; they can’t be deceiving us,” Nyesom Wike said.
He further stated that opposition parties often criticise established political structures but fail to demonstrate superior governance standards within their own organisations.
According to him, internal disputes within opposition primaries reveal deeper structural weaknesses that undermine public confidence.
The minister maintained that Nigerians should be cautious of political actors who make sweeping promises of reform without first demonstrating accountability and transparency within their own parties.
