Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and leading aspirant in the ADC presidential contest, was seen boarding an aircraft alongside aides as he travelled to his home state for the crucial party exercise.

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is among the major contenders cleared by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to vie for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Other cleared aspirants include former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, all expected to compete in a closely watched primary election.

Atiku’s movement to Adamawa comes shortly after the state chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, publicly endorsed him as its preferred presidential candidate following consultations with party stakeholders across the state.

The party leadership in Adamawa described Atiku Abubakar as a seasoned political figure with the experience and national reach required to reposition Nigeria’s governance and economic direction.

The ADC presidential primary is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 general election, with political observers closely monitoring the evolving opposition realignment.

The party has urged aspirants, delegates and members to maintain peace and discipline during the exercise, stressing that unity remains critical to its electoral success.
