The announcement was made on Sunday following his withdrawal from the APC governorship primary in Bauchi State, where Senator Shehu Buba Umar alleged irregularities and breaches of party guidelines during the exercise.

Shehu Buba left APC to PRP marks a significant political shift in Bauchi State, coming after weeks of internal tension within the ruling party over the conduct of its primary elections.

In his resignation statement, the senator said his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, youth groups, women associations, party stakeholders and supporters across Bauchi South and beyond.

He criticised the APC for what he described as a lack of internal democracy, unfair treatment of members and growing disregard for grassroots voices within the party structure.

Senator Buba described the Peoples Redemption Party as a platform rooted in justice, transparency, accountability and inclusive governance, adding that his move was driven by a desire to strengthen democratic participation and responsive leadership.

According to him, political parties must uphold fairness and allow members equal opportunity to contribute meaningfully to decision-making processes if democracy is to thrive.

He also called for urgent reforms in governance, stressing the need to address poverty, unemployment, insecurity and economic hardship affecting citizens across the country.
