The screening, which covered all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, was conducted by committees set up in line with the party’s constitution and internal electoral guidelines. Party officials said the process was designed to ensure transparency, orderliness, and compliance with eligibility standards.

According to the ADC, a total of 1,869 aspirants were screened for various elective positions, out of which 212 were disqualified for failing to meet stipulated requirements. The party said only candidates who satisfied its conditions were cleared to proceed to the primaries.

ADC aspirant screening  recorded the highest participation in the State House of Assembly category, where 980 aspirants were screened. Of these, 155 were disqualified. For the House of Representatives, 50 aspirants failed to meet the requirements, while seven senatorial aspirants were also ruled ineligible.

The party attributed the disqualifications to inconsistencies in personal records, including discrepancies in dates of birth and graduation years, invalid party membership documentation, and failure to comply with established electoral guidelines.

Party officials described the exercise as a necessary step to strengthen internal democracy and ensure credible candidates emerge ahead of the primaries.

The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to due process and fair competition, noting that only aspirants who met all conditions would advance to the next stage of the selection process.
