Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the Nigerian House of Representatives, declaring his political ambition in a viral video shared on Sunday, 18 May 2026, marking his entry into active politics through what has now become the Emeka Ike House of Representatives Bid.

In the video, Emeka Ike stated that he will be running for the Bwari/AMAC Federal Constituency seat in Abuja under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, expressing confidence in what he described as a mission to make a “federal statement.”

“I’m running for the Federal House of Representatives under Bwari/AMAC Constituency in Abuja and we want to make a federal statement,” he said.

When asked about the difference he intends to make if elected, the Nollywood star emphasised political participation and civic responsibility, urging Nigerians to take greater interest in governance and electoral participation.

He encouraged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, describing them as essential tools for political change and accountability.

Emeka Ike also criticised the current political structure, suggesting that Nigerians should take greater ownership of leadership decisions rather than remaining passive observers.

According to him, political power should be rebalanced in favour of citizens, adding that collective action through voting remains the most effective means of driving change.

“I’m not angry at our politicians anymore, they’ve clearly shown they don’t care about us. I’m angry at you, Nigerians. Go and collect your PVCs. That’s the only noise we need right now,” he added.
