In a statement issued on Tuesday to Lagos residents and ADC supporters, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour acknowledged the ongoing turbulence shaping opposition politics, noting that some political actors have opted to move to alternative platforms.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour described the current period as a defining moment, stressing that political choices are being made under difficult conditions and should not be met with judgment.
He, however, made it clear that his allegiance remains firmly with the ADC, which he described as a platform built through collective effort and sustained political engagement.
According to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, his decision to remain with the party is rooted in conviction rather than convenience, adding that political consistency is essential for long-term impact.
The former governorship candidate traced his political journey through multiple parties, including KOWA, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the Labour Party, stating that each move was guided by principle and not personal gain.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour also insisted that he has never compromised his political stance with the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, stating that he rejected offers that conflicted with his beliefs.
He further emphasised the importance of strong political organisation at the grassroots level, arguing that defending electoral mandates requires structure, discipline, and readiness.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who contested the 2023 Lagos governorship election, said ongoing efforts are focused on strengthening ward-level mobilisation and coordination across local government areas.
Nigeria’s opposition politics has continued to experience fragmentation in recent months, with several prominent figures shifting affiliations across parties and emerging coalitions ahead of future elections.
