NNPP issues warning to INEC legal dispute risks as party cautions electoral body over court order handling amid internal leadership tensions

NNPP cautions INEC legal dispute concern was raised on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, who urged the electoral body to exercise caution in interpreting judicial rulings linked to internal party conflicts.
Ladipo Johnson warned that mismanagement of court decisions could deepen existing tensions and lead to avoidable legal battles with wider implications for the electoral process.
“INEC must be cautious in handling court orders to avoid plunging the electoral process into unnecessary legal battles that could disrupt the timetable,” he said.
The warning comes amid prolonged internal disputes within the NNPP, where rival factions have repeatedly approached the courts over leadership legitimacy and control of the party structure.
The crisis has resulted in conflicting judicial interpretations, creating uncertainty over which faction should be officially recognised by INEC.
Ladipo Johnson further stressed that unresolved legal disputes within political parties could undermine public confidence and destabilise preparations ahead of future elections if not carefully managed.

Political analysts note that such disputes, if left unresolved, may continue to pose challenges for electoral administration and party cohesion in the build-up to upcoming polls.
