Obi Kwankwaso 2027 presidential ticket claim surfaces as Ibrahim Abdulkarim says Kwankwaso agreed to deputise Peter Obi for 2027 election
Ibrahim Abdulkarim, a political associate of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, has claimed that former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has agreed to serve as running mate in a proposed Obi Kwankwaso 2027 presidential ticket, during an interview on Trust TV on Friday in a statement that has intensified political speculation ahead of the next general election.

Ibrahim Abdulkarim alleged that discussions between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have progressed to the point of agreement, asserting that both leaders have settled on a joint arrangement for the 2027 presidential race.
He stated that Rabiu Kwankwaso, who recently moved from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has already accepted to deputise Peter Obi, describing the development as widely known within their respective political movements.
According to him, supporters of both the Obidient Movement and the Kwankwassiyya Movement are already aware of what he described as an emerging consensus around the Obi Kwankwaso 2027 presidential ticket.
The remarks have further fuelled discussions within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, particularly following Rabiu Kwankwaso’s recent political realignment, which has triggered renewed debate over potential alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abdulkarim said the reported agreement reflects a strategic alignment aimed at consolidating grassroots political structures across different regions of the country, although neither Peter Obi nor Rabiu Kwankwaso has publicly confirmed the claim.
The assertion has nevertheless added momentum to ongoing speculation about possible coalition-building efforts among leading opposition figures seeking to challenge the ruling political establishment in 2027.
