Sharafadeen Alli Oyo governorship ambition declared as Oyo South Senator enters 2027 race under APC after formal declaration in Ibadan
Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election at a large political gathering held at Police Field, Yemetu, Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria on Friday, marking a significant escalation in the Sharafadeen Alli Oyo governorship ambition.

The declaration was witnessed by thousands of APC supporters, party leaders and political stakeholders drawn from across Oyo State, as Senator Sharafadeen Alli confirmed that he would seek the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the forthcoming general elections.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli said his decision followed extensive consultations with traditional rulers, political leaders and other stakeholders, describing his ambition as a commitment to advancing the development of Oyo State through experienced leadership and inclusive governance.
He stated that his long record of public service informed his decision to enter the race, noting that his political journey had prepared him for higher responsibility at the state level.
Sharafadeen Alli Oyo guber ambition was formally unveiled before a crowd that included prominent political figures such as Senator Yunus Akintunde, members of the House of Representatives including Akin Alabi, Aderemi Oseni, Akeem Adeyemi, Olafisoye Akinmoyede and Tajudeen Abisodun, as well as former Deputy Governor Iyiola Oladokun and other senior party leaders.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who also holds the traditional title of Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, outlined his political experience, referencing his tenure as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area and his service in Oyo State government under former Governor Rashidi Ladoja.
He emphasised his contributions in the Senate, stating that he has consistently advocated for the interests of his constituents while supporting policies aimed at improving governance and development across the state.
