Onanuga ADC Desperate Politicians Attack as presidential aide Bayo Onanuga criticises ADC and defends Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the opposition party as a gathering of “desperate politicians” lacking a coherent national agenda.

Bayo Onanuga made the remarks while responding to comments by ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola during the party’s national convention in Abuja, where the former Osun State governor criticised the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Onanuga ADC Desperate Politicians Attack came shortly after Aregbesola described the government’s flagship policy as a “classic scam”, sparking a heated exchange between both political figures.
In a post shared on his official X account, Onanuga dismissed the opposition party’s credibility, alleging that its members were recycling what he called “warped narratives” against the federal government.
“No, Rauf. The real scammers are the politicians inside the SPV called ADC,” Onanuga wrote, in a direct rebuttal that further escalated political tensions.
He accused Aregbesola of misrepresenting the administration’s record and aligning with opposition talking points aimed at distorting public perception of government performance.
Onanuga also criticised the former minister’s record in office, referencing challenges during his tenure as governor of Osun State, including unpaid salaries and pension concerns.
He further cited Aregbesola’s time as Minister of Interior, pointing to delays in passport processing and security breaches in correctional facilities as evidence of poor performance.
“It is ironic that Aregbesola now seeks to lecture others on insecurity,” Onanuga stated, adding that critics should reflect on their own records before making public accusations.
Defending the Tinubu administration, Onanuga said the government had acknowledged the impact of ongoing reforms but insisted that corrective measures were being implemented to cushion economic pressures.
He listed initiatives such as cash transfers and support for small businesses as part of efforts to stabilise households and stimulate economic activity.
According to him, key economic indicators, including GDP growth, foreign reserves and stock market performance, were showing signs of improvement under the current administration.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not a scam,” Onanuga insisted, reinforcing the government’s position amid growing political criticism.
