Shettima condoles El-Rufai mother death as VP visits Abuja residence, mourns late Hajiya Fatima Umma and urges national unity
Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking in Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday, paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai following the death of his mother, Hajiya Fatima Umma, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on March 27 at the age of 96.

The Shettima condoles El-Rufai mother death visit took place at El-Rufai’s Abuja residence, where the Vice President expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
Shettima described the loss as painful and urged Nigerians to embrace unity regardless of political differences, stressing the importance of national cohesion during moments of grief.
He also extended condolences on behalf of the Federal Government, noting that the late matriarch lived a long and impactful life.
The Vice President was received by several dignitaries at the residence, including former Bauchi State Governor Ahmed Muazu and retired Chief of Army Staff General Abdurrahman Dambazau.
The visit underscored continued efforts by political leaders to maintain personal and national bonds despite differing political alignments.
