Aminu Gwarzo NNPP resignation confirmed as former Kano Deputy Governor exits party after wide consultations and political review

Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), marking a significant political shift in the state’s evolving political landscape.

The Aminu Gwarzo NNPP resignation was contained in a letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the party in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, stating that the decision takes immediate effect.

In the letter, Gwarzo confirmed his exit from the party after what he described as deep reflection and wide consultations with political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state.

He said recent political developments influenced his decision to reassess his membership, noting that the evolving political environment made it necessary to consider a new direction.

“The decision comes after deep reflection and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state,” he stated.

Gwarzo added that his exit was driven by what he described as patriotic considerations and the need to pursue a political path aligned with his vision for governance and development.

“My decision is informed by patriotic consideration and the need to pursue a political path that aligns with my vision for good governance, democratic values, and sustainable development of our dear state,” he wrote.

The Aminu Gwarzo NNPP resignation also included appreciation for the party leadership and members, whom he thanked for their cooperation and support during his time in the party.

He concluded his letter by expressing goodwill to the party, stating that he remained grateful for the opportunity to serve under its platform and wished the leadership well in future endeavours.

The development adds to ongoing political realignments in Kano State, where shifting alliances continue to shape the region’s political direction ahead of future electoral cycles.
