The PDP convention crisis Wike Turaki dispute has thrown the party into a tense standoff, with factions aligned to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on one side and a rival bloc led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, on the other, each claiming legitimacy over the direction of the party.

Speaking in Abuja on Sunday, National Publicity Secretary of the National Caretaker Working Committee, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, reaffirmed that the convention scheduled for 29 and 30 March 2026 will proceed as planned, citing existing court judgments as the legal foundation for the committee’s authority.

According to the leadership, rulings from the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal have validated the caretaker structure currently steering the party, and these decisions remain binding.

The PDP convention crisis Wike Turaki tensions escalated further as the caretaker leadership accused the Turaki-led bloc, reportedly aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, of preparing to approach the courts in Ibadan to secure an injunction halting the convention.

The party described the move as unfortunate, insisting that multiple attempts at reconciliation had been made but were not honoured by the rival faction.

The caretaker committee also urged the judiciary to be vigilant, warning against what it described as attempts to misuse legal processes to disrupt internal party activities.
