APC Issues Defiant 72-Hour Ultimatum Over Court Influence Claims

Kano APC NNPP court allegation dispute escalates as APC issues 72-hour ultimatum over claims of judicial interference and demands retraction

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) spokesperson Ibrahim Karaye, demanding a full retraction and public apology over allegations that the state government is influencing court proceedings in Kano.

The Kano APC NNPP court allegation dispute intensified on Thursday after the party described the claims as “false, malicious and legally indefensible,” insisting that the administration of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has never interfered in judicial processes.

The ultimatum was contained in a statement issued by APC spokesperson Auwalu Soja Gwale, who warned that failure to comply would lead to immediate legal action for defamation against both the NNPP and its spokesperson.

The controversy stems from accusations reportedly made by NNPP factional spokesperson Ibrahim Karaye, alleging that the Kano State Government influenced court proceedings and paid significant sums to sway decisions at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.

The APC strongly rejected the claims, describing them as unfounded and part of what it termed a pattern of reckless political rhetoric by elements within the opposition party.

The party further accused the NNPP of attempting to discredit the judiciary, arguing that no evidence had been provided to support the allegations.

It also urged the Kwankwasiyya faction of the NNPP to address its internal leadership disputes, referencing ongoing litigations involving factions linked to Boniface Aniebonam and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso rather than making what it called frivolous accusations.

Reaffirming its position, the APC stressed its commitment to the rule of law and urged the public to disregard the allegations entirely, maintaining that the claims were baseless and politically motivated.

The NNPP is yet to issue a formal response to the ultimatum as tensions between both parties continue to rise in Kano’s already charged political climate.
