PDP warns members and public to ignore fake congresses and unauthorised timetables, stressing only official communications are valid
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports of planned congresses across the country, describing them as false and circulated by expelled members seeking political favour with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, made the clarification in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Turaki said the PDP is currently focused on digital membership registration, which he described as progressing well.
He warned that the purported congresses were part of a deliberate attempt to undermine the party and disrupt Nigeria’s democratic processes.
“The false information about congress was being circulated by expelled party members, who now have clearly shown their unrelenting appendages to the All Progressives Congress, in a bid to kill PDP and derail Nigeria’s democracy,” Turaki said.
He added that individuals spreading such misinformation were motivated by personal political gain and had previously leveraged party platforms during elections to negotiate with the ruling party.
The PDP also dissociated itself from a circulated graphic purporting to show a “PDP Timetable of Activities 2026,” describing the material as fake, unauthorised, and misleading.
Turaki stressed that only official communications issued through recognised PDP channels are valid.
“Only official communications released through the official Peoples Democratic Party Nigeria and PDP’s recognised national organs and verified platforms should be regarded as authentic,” Turaki said.
“Any timetable, guideline, or directive not issued through these channels has no force, legitimacy, or approval of the Party.”

The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process, and internal democracy, adding that steps will be taken to identify and hold accountable those behind the circulation of the false materials.
