ADC’s Moses Paul Hails ‘Permanent Awakening’ in AMAC Poll

Moses Paul praises voters’ courage in AMAC poll, calling the contest a ‘permanent awakening’ for democracy despite his defeat

Paul made the remarks in a statement to supporters and the public following the poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Christopher Maikalangu, winner of the contest with 40,295 votes, while Paul scored 12,109 votes.

Collation officer Andrew Abue announced the results at the conclusion of the exercise.

Despite the defeat, Paul thanked volunteers, elders, youth, and women for their dedication and commitment, noting that their courage had reaffirmed democracy as a living promise.

“What we witnessed in this election was not merely a contest for office, but a declaration of dignity by a people who have refused to surrender their future,” he said.

Paul highlighted the selfless efforts of his supporters, who engaged communities across Karshi, Nyanya, Wuse, and Gui, and praised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for exemplifying discipline and commitment to a better Nigeria.

He further described the movement as being founded on truth rather than titles.

“To the young men and women who stood in the sun for hours, who walked distances their feet had never known, who gave their time, their strength, their voices, you are the authors of a new chapter,” he said.

Paul concluded with a message of hope and determination: “What began here in AMAC will not end here. This is not the end of our journey. This is the beginning of a permanent awakening. One day, a new AMAC will emerge. One day, a new Nigeria will rise. And when that day comes, history will remember that it was you, the ordinary citizens with extraordinary courage, who made it possible.”
