Ehuwa Jackson Backs Matthew Oyerimade for Ondo South Seat

Ehuwa Jackson urges APC stakeholders in Ondo South to back Matthew Oyerimade to complete Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s unexpired tenure

Ehuwa Jackson has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Ondo South Senatorial District to support Hon Matthew Oyerimade in completing the senatorial term of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, recently confirmed as an ambassador by Nigeria’s 10th Senate.

Jackson highlighted Senator Ibrahim’s sterling legislative performance and applauded President Bola Tinubu for recognising his contributions with the ambassadorial appointment.

The development has prompted early political positioning among aspirants aiming to fill the vacancy ahead of a bye-election.

Jackson argued that the senatorial mandate constitutionally belongs to all six local government areas in Ondo South, warning against restricting succession to Ibrahim’s Okitipupa LGA alone.

He cited the need to maintain the district’s longstanding spirit of brotherhood, mutual respect, and political cohesion.

Citing the results of the May 2022 APC primary, Jackson noted that Oyerimade, popularly known as “Mato,” was runner-up to Ibrahim, polling 92 votes against Ibrahim’s 190.

He argued that Oyerimade’s strong showing, humility, and popularity across the district make him the ideal candidate to fly the APC flag in the upcoming by-election.

Jackson emphasised Oyerimade’s contributions to party growth, including funding the renovation of all six local government APC secretariats in 2021 and supporting the party’s 2023 election campaigns.

He added that selecting Oyerimade would promote unity, reward loyalty, and avoid acrimony, noting that the politician’s proven dedication aligns with the APC’s broader interests.

“Given his character, commitment, and widespread acceptance, Mato is uniquely positioned to maintain party cohesion and complete Senator Ibrahim’s unexpired tenure,” Jackson concluded.
