The 18-month initiative, backed by the European Union in collaboration with Mercy Corps and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), is being implemented in eight local government areas in Katsina and two in Zamfara.
It builds on a previous project that successfully supported over 95,000 beneficiaries.
Speaking during the launch on Monday, Governor Radda described the project as a “new era of hope, partnership, and collective action,” especially for women, youth, and vulnerable groups who are often at the center of conflict.
“We are not passive beneficiaries; we are active core creators of peace and development,” Radda said.
The CPCRR is an extension of the earlier EU-supported Conflict Mitigation and Community Reconciliation Project, which played a crucial role in rebuilding trust among communities, resettling displaced persons, and de-escalating local conflicts.
Governor Radda emphasized that Katsina State will take full leadership of the initiative to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with its development plans.
A steering committee has been inaugurated to oversee implementation, inter-agency collaboration, and engagement with traditional and religious institutions.
In addition to peacebuilding, Radda revealed that the state has secured a partnership with France to develop a 1-megawatt hydropower project at Danja Dam, further aligning development with stability.
“This project empowers our youth and women with skills, resources, and leadership opportunities, making them peace-builders and agents of change,” he added.
The governor urged community leaders to use their influence to promote tolerance, mediate conflicts, and protect the vulnerable.

The project is expected to deliver long-lasting peace dividends by addressing root causes of violence and fostering inclusive development.
