APC reports 49% of new members are aged 18–35, signaling a more youthful party, says Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reported a significant influx of young people into the party, with nearly half of new members aged between 18 and 35, National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda revealed on Tuesday.

Yilwatda said the development reflects a shift in the party’s demographic composition, with young Nigerians increasingly drawn to the APC platform.
“When we discuss people coming back to the APC, we don’t discuss the governors. We are rather discussing ordinary Nigerians who move to the APC every day,” he said.
The chairman noted that data from the party’s ongoing e-registration and opinion polls indicate that 49% of interested members fall within the 18–35 age group.
“Before now, we didn’t have a youthful political party. The data we had before showed only about 21% to 23% in that category,” Yilwatda explained.
He added that understanding what is attracting young people to the APC would be key for the party’s strategy moving forward.
