She made the clarification on Tuesday in Abuja while addressing reporters on the outcome of the IPAC election held on December 8.
Ibrahim, who also serves as APC Deputy National Women Leader, rejected allegations that the ruling party has contributed to instability in other parties, stating, “I do not think APC is responsible for the internal problems of any political party. That is their internal affair.”
She emphasised that the APC’s strict adherence to internal democracy distinguishes it from other parties and has attracted members nationwide.
Describing APC as a “formidable national party with representation across all zones,” Ibrahim said the party’s principles of transparency and internal governance have made it a preferred destination for Nigerians seeking effective political platforms.
On the role of IPAC, she clarified that the council does not interfere in the internal affairs of parties.
“IPAC relates strictly with INEC. It is the names of party leaders on the INEC portal that IPAC works with. We do not concern ourselves with factional disputes of political parties,” she said.
Ibrahim also highlighted reforms within IPAC itself, noting the adoption of a “twinning formula” in the council’s new constitution to ensure gender inclusivity.
This led to the election of three women into the National Executive Committee, marking a significant milestone in political representation.
She explained that under the new rules, positions such as Deputy National Chairman and Deputy National Secretary are reserved for women when the corresponding principal officer is male.
