Osun PDP warns Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde to stay away from Osun affairs, rejecting alleged illegal governorship primaries for 2026.
The Osun State Peoples Democratic Party caucus in the House of Representatives has warned Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to “stay away from Osun affairs,” rejecting what it described as illegal governorship primaries that produced Adebayo Adedamola as PDP’s 2026 candidate.

The statement, signed on Wednesday by six members of the caucus-Bamidele Salam, Mudashiru Alani, Akanni Ademola, Adewale Adebayo, Adetunji Olusoji, and Oladebo Omoleye-accused Makinde of orchestrating the primaries with “thugs and political jobbers” allegedly imported from Ibadan, Oyo State.
They described the actions as evidence of Makinde’s desperation for regional political influence.
The caucus criticised Makinde for ignoring PDP procedures that require elections of ward ad-hoc delegates and national delegates before primaries can be validly conducted.
They warned that anyone parading as the PDP candidate would amount to “criminal impersonation” and risk provoking party members in Osun State.
The statement added that Makinde has exported “impunity, recklessness and sham to Osun State,” despite the presence of a “decent sitting governor who carries everyone along in major decision-making.”
Lawmakers pledged to uphold the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and urged potential 2026 governorship aspirants to “play by the rules.”
They also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to disregard the purported primary results and ensure alignment with PDP guidelines.
The controversy stems from a deep leadership crisis at the PDP national level.
Factions aligned with Makinde, including supporters of Kabiru Turaki, are in conflict with Nyesom Wike’s faction.
The struggle has disrupted the party’s operations, with key officers responsible for organising primaries suspended or counter-suspended, preventing legitimate elections in several states, including Osun.

On 4 November 2025, Governor Ademola Adeleke formally resigned from the PDP, citing the ongoing national leadership crisis as the reason.
