The decision was announced on Monday in a statement issued in Lagos by the party’s Secretary-General, Ogini Olaposi.
Olaposi said the extension followed a directive from the party’s Board of Trustees to the National Working Committee, which was subsequently approved by party founder Boniface Aniebonam.
According to him, the adjustment became necessary due to delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission in uploading the logo of the party’s recognised leadership.
“The extension is to give room for the resolution of the delay by INEC in uploading the logo of the authentic leadership of the party,” he said.
The new deadline for the collection and submission of nomination forms is now May 17.
Olaposi also disclosed the official cost structure for aspirants seeking elective positions under the party platform.
He stated that presidential aspirants will pay N5 million, while governorship aspirants are required to pay N2.5 million. Senatorial hopefuls will pay N1.5 million, House of Representatives aspirants N1 million, and House of Assembly candidates N500,000.
He added that nomination forms would be free for women and persons with disabilities as part of the party’s inclusion policy.
Olaposi further noted that elected party officials seeking re-election would be granted automatic tickets upon purchase of nomination forms.
He assured members and aspirants that screening processes would proceed as scheduled despite the adjustment in timelines.
The party had earlier fixed May 10 for the commencement of the sale of nomination forms before the latest extension.
