Senator Ahmed Lawan, who represents Yobe North, disclosed the decision while briefing journalists after the meeting, stating that the party had resolved to adopt consensus for governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly primaries.

He explained that the decision was reached in line with provisions of the Electoral Act, which allows both consensus and direct primaries as valid methods for candidate selection.

According to him, the Yobe APC believes the consensus model has consistently strengthened internal unity and reduced post-primary disputes within the state.

Lawan noted that the process would ensure inclusivity, adding that aspirants who may not emerge through consensus would still be fully integrated into the party’s structure and campaign efforts.

He stressed that the party has established internal mechanisms to engage all contestants and maintain cohesion ahead of the elections.

The senator also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering strong electoral performance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Stakeholders at the meeting also reportedly endorsed President Tinubu for a second term, expressing confidence in his leadership and development agenda.

Governor Mai Mala Buni highlighted ongoing federal projects and programmes in Yobe State, describing them as evidence of the administration’s impact in the region.
