The Wike PDP crisis discussion emerged during Abati’s appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he analyzed the political developments shaping the opposition party’s current struggles.
Abati noted that competing party conventions and conflicting court rulings have deepened uncertainty over which faction of the PDP is legitimately in control.
He referenced multiple judicial decisions and highlighted the lack of consensus surrounding the outcomes of these rulings.
According to him, different factions have continued to claim legitimacy, including a convention reportedly held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium and observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
These overlapping claims have further complicated the party’s internal dynamics.
Despite the legal and political confusion, Abati observed that Wike appears to have strengthened his influence within the party.
He suggested that public perception increasingly positions Wike as a central figure in the PDP’s national structure.
He emphasized that the situation remains unresolved and may ultimately require a Supreme Court decision to clarify which faction holds constitutional legitimacy within the party.
Abati also warned that the PDP could face continued internal drama as the crisis unfolds, noting that the party’s ability to resolve its leadership disputes will be critical to its future political direction.
