Mbora announced his defection on Thursday in Calabar, citing the ongoing internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the primary reason for his decision.

He said the prolonged instability within the PDP had continued to weaken the party’s cohesion and effectiveness, making his departure necessary despite what he described as a difficult decision.

In an emotional tone, the former lawmaker expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it provided him to serve at local government, state and national levels, adding that he remained appreciative of the support he received throughout his political career.

Mbora also called on his supporters and political associates to join him in the ADC, urging them to participate actively in the party’s ongoing registration and revalidation exercise across wards in the state.

He further encouraged unity among his followers, stressing that the move was aimed at repositioning their political engagement ahead of future elections.

The development comes as the ADC continues to attract high-profile political figures in Cross River State, with reports indicating that arrangements are underway for a reception rally to formally welcome Mbora and other recent defectors.
